Yummy Yummy Yummy...

I've got sushi in my tummy.

My poppers and I went to Hayashi for dinner. It was nummy. I ate too much.... However at least I didn't follow it with a Krispy Kreme Donut like my father. Silly Poppers went to get a cup of coffee and he had to go in, so he could get his coffee card punched, and they offer you a free one while you are in line. Hmmmm, Donut.

Less than 20 shopping days...

Yeah. I said it. Christmas is coming. Eeek. I am so not ready. I'v got maybe 1/8th of my shopping done. I have no clue what I am getting most of the people on my list. If I don't have it by next Tuesday, I am just making an order from Amazon.com. If I cannot order it from Amazon.com, then I am just going to start giving rolls of quarters wrapped in funny socks from Target.

December 1st is World Aids Day

Today is World AIDS Day.

Why should we care? Well, because this disease is spreading even though is completely preventable.

There are over 40 million people living with AIDS today. That is 40,000,000. That is 40 million people too many.

I think I am in Love

My mom has been completely obsessed with Japanese Woodblock Prints lately, and so I thought I would check out a few. I found one I am in love with. This is the most perfect woodblock print I have ever seen. And yes. I am biased. I have no problems admitting it. I also will say upfront that I will take this back if I ever find a perfect parakeet print.

Trying to Move out.....Eventually

So, the more I think about it, the more unprepared I feel. I want to move out. I mean, I am 25, I have a job, a car, health insurance, a 401k...I should have my own place. A mail box, a telephone number, a welcome mat... I just don't really know anything about it. I mean, sure, I could get an apartment, but average rent on a one bedroom in a decent area is about $850 a month! It seems a bit silly when there are places that are just as nice advertising with mortgages for $650 a month. I just don't know what else I would need to pay for. I mean, I know, but I don't know. What can I expect to pay for heat? Electric? Water? What about cable and internet? Tax?

So what does a girl with an English Degree do? I go get books! Thank God for plastic! (I am referring to my library card!) My reading list for this week:

Buying Solo : The Single Woman's Guide to Buying a First Home by Vanessa Summers
100 Questions Every First-Time Home Buyer Should Ask by Ilyce Glink
How to Buy Your First Home by Diana Brodman Summers
How to Buy a Condominium or Townhome by Irwin E. Leiter
and
When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? by George Carlin- wait that's got nothing to do with buying a house. Oh well, a girl should laugh a bit, too, right?

Hopefully all of these books will give me a bit of insight and guidance. If not, I will just live here until I am considered a squatter... I remember hearing somewhere about squatter's rights. I think they have them somewhere. Besides, I am pretty sure my parents still love me. I don't think they will kick me out any time soon.
