I think I am in Love

My mom has been completely obsessed with Japanese Woodblock Prints lately, and so I thought I would check out a few. I found one I am in love with. This is the most perfect woodblock print I have ever seen. And yes. I am biased. I have no problems admitting it. I also will say upfront that I will take this back if I ever find a perfect parakeet print.

Trying to Move out.....Eventually

So, the more I think about it, the more unprepared I feel. I want to move out. I mean, I am 25, I have a job, a car, health insurance, a 401k...I should have my own place. A mail box, a telephone number, a welcome mat... I just don't really know anything about it. I mean, sure, I could get an apartment, but average rent on a one bedroom in a decent area is about $850 a month! It seems a bit silly when there are places that are just as nice advertising with mortgages for $650 a month. I just don't know what else I would need to pay for. I mean, I know, but I don't know. What can I expect to pay for heat? Electric? Water? What about cable and internet? Tax?

So what does a girl with an English Degree do? I go get books! Thank God for plastic! (I am referring to my library card!) My reading list for this week:

Buying Solo : The Single Woman's Guide to Buying a First Home by Vanessa Summers
100 Questions Every First-Time Home Buyer Should Ask by Ilyce Glink
How to Buy Your First Home by Diana Brodman Summers
How to Buy a Condominium or Townhome by Irwin E. Leiter
and
When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? by George Carlin- wait that's got nothing to do with buying a house. Oh well, a girl should laugh a bit, too, right?

Hopefully all of these books will give me a bit of insight and guidance. If not, I will just live here until I am considered a squatter... I remember hearing somewhere about squatter's rights. I think they have them somewhere. Besides, I am pretty sure my parents still love me. I don't think they will kick me out any time soon.
