Groundhogs' vote: split
PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. --
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Saturday, leading the groundhog to forecast six more weeks of winter.
Each Feb. 2, thousands of people descend on Punxsutawney, a town of about 6,100 people, to celebrate the German superstition.
In the Chicago area, the Brookfield Zoo said its groundhogs wouldn't come out, despite sweet potato cake and a crowd of more than 600 people. But one of the rodents, Tumbleweed, stuck her nose out and no shadow was seen -- so the forecast is for an early spring, the zoo said. AP
